Music
Intent
At Crownfield Infant School and Nursery we want to build a musical curriculum which develops learning and results in the acquisition of knowledge and improved well-being. We encourage children to participate in a variety of musical experiences through which we aim to build up the confidence of all children.
Implementation
Our children will be delivered a clear and comprehensive scheme of work in line with the National Curriculum through Charanga. Teaching and learning will show progression across all Key Stages within the strands of music. As children progress their love of music they will increase their confidence, creativity and sense of achievement. Children get access to be taught by real musicians. Peripatetic teachers to come into school and teach individual instruments to those children who wish to learn them. A love of playing an instrument promoted and encouraged in their ability to do so as a form of expression.
Intent
Our children will achieve age related expectations in music at the end of their cohort year. Our children will retain the knowledge that is pertinent to music. We will use a range of strategies to assess what skills and knowledge the children have attained each half term by observing their performances, listening to pupil voice, having regular feedback sessions and encouraging self and peer assessments of their learning.
